(Woodie) Woodie, your posts have been a real encouragement to me, and I do appreciate the things you share, even if I haven't much time to post many comments lately. Thanks also for your prayers. I really like the thought of partnering with the Holy Spirit - that's a real win-win situation.
I have been battling complacency lately. I think that sometimes when you are battling long and hard, if things let up somewhat, it's really easy to just let your guard down, and then that is when things begin to go awry again. The pastor where I go to church was preaching on that this morning. He used to be a Marine drill sergeant, and he was telling about how bad he felt when he was saved because of how harsh and mean he had been to all the young Marines, how he had screamed and yelled at them, taught them to kill and use all kinds of combat techniques, and all the things he had done to try to make them tough. He cried out to the Lord and asked him why He had allowed him do all of that. And He said the Lord spoke to him and told him, "It's because you are in a real war now, and I have prepared you so that you will be able to prepare my children for what they are going to go through, how to fight the enemy, how to never give up, how to be strong when everything around you is going wrong, and how to win the battles and keep the victories." And that was just so encouraging to me not to become complacent, to keep on holding onto the Lord and keep our children before our eyes and pray for them. I really like what that person said to you, "If
you quit, who will hold on for them?" And it's not just for them - it's for us and our peace of mind and spirit as well.
