Do you remember how we used to pray in the Family "and bless the cook". I think because quite often the majority of the people may not have known who the cook was. Or maybe it was a humility type thing, not wanting to give any personal glory (or shame?) for the cooking.
Anyway, that was one thing that started to bother me after we left, because I was the only one cooking and I got referred to as "the cook".
No Mom, or "my wife". It suddenly struck me how demeaning it was. It wasn't for the personal glory, but why in our situation did we have (my family) have to carry on this little tradition.
Well I finaly had my say about it, and it got a pretty shocked reaction from my kids. I'm so glad I finally broke with that tradition and realised my own worth. I mean we don't even have to say "bless my for cooking", or anything, it's just I'd rather them thank me their selves rather then this thanking the Lord for some nebulous person that doesn't exist!lol
