CB;
Yeah, that's what I was getting at, obviously; thanks!
I just finished watching a dvd in my ACP program, about special ed. It was called "F.A.T. City", where the initials stand for "frustrated angry and tired", reflecting mostly how the average spcial ed students feel about themselves aftrer the abuse through unenlightened teaching methods and antiquated approaches to teaching this psecial group, as well as frustration over the poor quality of teaching prevalent historically for the teaching of those with learning problems; peceptually based and otherwise.
I, myself, have SEVERE ADD, and have to cope with it every day, so I am quite sympathetic towards kids with that and other learning disabilities.
Since I don't know what country the child in question is from, I wouldn't know if there were tesing for disabilities available,or how accurate and dependable any tests were. You'd probably kinow a whole lot more, in this area, since I am brand-new to education.
Just off the top of my head, though, it sounds like a very intelligent, but a bored and bullied child is acting out, because of poor treatment by some uninformed adults, to use as generous a term as possible in attempting to describe them.
I think their collective behavior is reprehensible, and that they are both ignorant and unprofessional. Teachers DO have a lot of power, though, so there's no reason to NOT try to "finesse" them to get throught the problem. What a mess.
I'll be praying for the situation
