I'm trying to understand about the kid thing.

I have nine, and I couldn't imagine a life without them. My daughter is 11 and she is my youngest now. I'm teaching and I love being around young people although I thought I would not.

I still have four at home (well 6 really as my son and daughter in law are here too for now.

I think because we are far from any relatives we tend to cling close to each other. Sunday dinners, getting together for Birthdays, and Christmas.

I can't wait till they start having their little ones too.

I know when I went home for a visit, it had gotten to the stage you are talking about, my Dad has passed away ten years earlier and my Mom was busy with her "new" life. So the family really didn't stay in touch. It seems my Dad had been the key stone in holding everyone together. I guess when that person goes, it starts to go down hill.
