In Response To: Interesting article on polygamy (Acheick)

Coincidentally, I was on another board last week where polygamy was being discussed. [Guess it has to do with the recent arrest of Jeffers (?sp).] There were several posters on that board that said that in a polygamous marriage that everyone was considered married to each other. I can see that some of the wives may feel this way, but I don't believe that they would be in any way legally bound to one another. Of course, I can imagine that it could get very complicated when it comes to material ownership, if the husband was to die, unless each wife had her own room, tent or home where she was able to keep track of her own furnishings, etc., or if a contract was drawn up to protect each wife's belongings. Since TF was already a commune and no one owned much of anything, except for some leadership, I doubt that there would have been much of a problem in regard to material things. But my question is: did you feel that you were married to your husband as well as each of his wives, or were you strictly married to your husband alone?
