Sounds like ur all from the South. I still got a bunch of kids at home, and what I usually try to do is emulate our Thanksgivings when I was a kid. It wasn't exactly over the river and through the woods, but I loved it. Our traditional Thanksgiving dinner was Turkey, stuffing (not the cornbread variety), mashed potatoes, the token cranberry sauce that no one was too wild about, but well you know, its Thanksgiving. Aunt Marian would bring her famous 3 bean salad that us kids would gag on, but now in my elder state, I don't mind it, Grandma would bring raisin pie, mom would make a to die for pumpkin pie, and we had heavenly "church supper rolls" fresh out of the oven. When we were done stuffing ourselves and the men folk were done watching their Thanksgiving Day endless football games on tv, we'd all doze off, and then a few hours later raid the kitchen again, usually making leftover turkey sandwiches with mom's rolls. Aaaahhhh, makes my mouth water just thinking of it.
So I try to do that with my own family here. Don't exactly have mom's recipes down as well as when she made the nice spread.
So its off to the kitchen in just a coupla days to make the feast.
I must say, I really missed those traditions in TF. There wasn't much of that type of thing, but I always tried to somehow slip it in in the particular Homes I was staying in.
Happy Thanksgiving all!!!
