I think that your experience would have been my own if I had been in your shoes. Polygamy is probably practiced best (if there is a good way to do it) in a culture where it has been a tradition. Obviously, American women and most Western women are not accustomed to such a practice, and for good reasons. Our culture, based on a Judeo-Christian ethic, did away with polygamy as a common practice hundreds of years ago. In fact, the Lord, via Paul, put a stop to it himself, which would mean that as a common practice most Christians have not been polygamous for over a thousand years.
Now back to your experience: I see that the reality of your situation was that your husband had the sole authority in regard to his mates.Your displeasure with the new mate didn't persuade him from bringing her into your family, and her displeasure with the third mate didn't persuade him either. What a self-centered @$#$ he was, eh? Someone told me on another board that in a polygamous marriage all women consent to each new mate. I nearly laughed my head off. I wondered what reality that poster was living in.
